How much does Public Storage cost?

Whether you want to store a few pieces of furniture during a home remodel or store your vast collection of Beanie Babies because “they’ll be worth something someday,” your Public Storage rental rate depends largely on your storage unit size, whether or not you want climate-controlled storage, and whether you need to purchase self-storage insurance.

Your storage unit preference isn’t the only thing that affects your rent, however. Much like its services and features, Public Storage’s rental rates vary between its locations too.

Take a look at the table below to see the price range for Public Storage’s most common storage types.

Public Storage gives you tons of storage options

Half the battle of renting a storage unit is finding a unit that’s the right size. You don’t want to rent something too large to store just your stamp collection, but you also don’t want to be stuck with something too small to store those giant stuffed carnival prizes you keep winning.

Most storage companies offer a variety of storage sizes, but we found that Public Storage had a wider variety across its facilities than other storage companies we researched.

Public Storage has secure storage units

Public Storage offers quite a few security measures to keep your items safe from both theft and damage.

Theft protection

Like with many other storage facilities, Public Storage sells high-quality disc locks to protect your unit. You can always provide your own, but it’s nice to know that Public Storage has quality locks available if you don’t have one lying around.

Whichever option you choose, you hold the only key, so would-be thieves have to go to extreme measures to loot your unit.

Public Storage also protects its units behind an electronic gate that requires a personalized code to open. Each customer receives their own gate code, so you won’t have to worry about someone walking in from off the street and entering a “master code” they found online.

Theft protection

Whether you’re storing your belongings for a month or a year, you want to be sure everything remains intact until you’re ready to pick it up.

Public Storage’s indoor climate-controlled units protect your items from the wild temperature and humidity shifts that occur in outdoor storage units. This not only keeps your boxes from getting moist and developing mold, but also keeps pests at bay.

Although access for indoor storage isn’t always as convenient as traditional outdoor storage, we think it’s a good option if you’re considering storing things like furniture or clothing that do better in a consistent climate.
